On Tuesday 17th April, we had a very interesting and informative afternoon seminar with Professor Alexander Stoddart, the well-known Scottish sculptor and artist. Having been raised in a Baptist church here in Paisley, Sandy spoke with great passion about his craft, Van Gogh’s art, and the religious influences on Van Gogh’s life – from being a missionary in Belgium to his wanderings across Europe as a painter. Professor Stoddart provided a gallop across this period of art history (and philosophy) and provided some brilliant insights into “reading” Van Gogh’s art. If you weren’t able to join us then below is a recording of his talk (apologies that at times reference was made to what was on-screen but we hope the recording is still able to be followed!)
