At SCB, we have a unique way of facilitating distance learning students which we believe offers the best way to study theology in this format. While we love to have students join us on-campus and experience the formative side of our learning community, we also understand the important of in-context learning, staying rooted in your local church, and serving where God has called you. But that choice shouldn’t stop you from studying theology!

All of our undergraduate modules can be taken at distance via online or hybrid study, but it’s not recorded content or self-study, but fully-immersive live lectures either with your very own online cohort or integrated into the on-campus classroom via a hybrid set-up. We know how important it is for the student experience to have access to lecturers in real-time so that you can join in discussions, ask questions, and get support when you need it and our hybrid and online classrooms allow that to happen with ease.

Furthermore, typically we offer one module a term that can be taken in the evening via online classes so that if you’re working full-time or daytime classes just don’t suit, there will always be a class to take in the evening.

However, we know it’s not just the classroom experience that’s important, it’s providing the same access to resources and content as if you were on-campus. While we’re quiet upfront that we can’t replicate sharing breaks and meals online in quite the same way, we can guarantee the same access to teaching materials, support services, and library resources as our on-campus students. With access to the Digital Theological Library (DTL) we offer full text access to over 600,000 theology books and over a million articles with the majority of our class texts and recommended reading easily found on the DTL. It has many of the major biblical commentary series and much, much more. Combined with the UWS Virtual Learning Environment (called Brightspace) you’ll have all the same opportunities for learning as an on-campus student.

So whatever your reasons for studying at distance and whether you are thinking about part-time or full-time studies, you can access our course from wherever you are and enjoy the same high quality of life-transforming teaching from SBC. Get in contact today to discuss opportunities to study and to design a learning plan that achieves your goal.
