We are saddened to learn of the passing of Lilias Beasant this week. Lilias was involved in the College for close to 25 years and made a significant impact on the students who studied at the College during those years. She started part-time in 1979 as Secretary to the Principal, a role that was the first administrative role to be created at the College. Very soon afterwards she took on the role full-time with the College recognizing the benefit of good administrative support! She continued in this role as the College developed until 2003 and continued supporting the College over the next couple of years. Not only did Lilias support the College through her administrative role but she was appreciated for the advice and support she gave to students and staff during her years of involvement.
Some comments from staff and students testify to her impact. Steve Younger, our current College Chaplain, and student during the early part of Lilias’ time at the College recalls that she was ‘unfailingly calm and courteous…remembered with great affection.’ Lilias reached the age of 100 in 2020 and celebrated her 102nd birthday in January of this year. She had a long life of faithful service and will be sadly missed. Please contact the College for further information about funeral arrangements.
