Dear Friends,

As we approach the end of May, we move from one academic year to the next. Classes are finished, marking is nearly completed, and soon all the work from the past year will be wrapped up, clearing the way for next academic year. Of course, we’re already planning for September with classes, lecturers, and timetable confirmed and gathering / interviewing for the new cohort of students on-going. As we turn to next year, whether thinking about online or on-campus study, our upcoming Online Open Evening is a great way for prospective students to find out more and ask questions. If you or anyone you know are interested in joining us for anything from an individual module through to the full degree then please get in contact with our Academic Director, Graham Meiklejohn (graham.meiklejohn@uws.ac.uk). You can also register for the Open Evening here: https://form.jotform.com/231422583739056

And just in case you’re wondering what classes are coming up in September, we have 3 entry-level modules: Encountering the Old Testament on Tuesdays; Christian Leadership on Wednesdays; and Turning Points in Church History on Thursdays. All can be taken on-campus during the day or online in the evenings.

For those interested in Continuing Ministerial or Professional Development, we have three upper-level classes exploring doctrine, Scripture, and practice at a deeper level. We have Sermon on the Mount on Tuesdays; Spiritual Formation on Wednesdays; and Theological Approaches to Contemporary Issues on Thursdays. These are available via hybrid teaching for online or on-campus students during the day.

As we move into June, the rhythm of College changes as the hubbub of teaching and marking give way to preparation and projects (and a little bit of rest!) Over the next 3 months, connecting with prospective students is the main priority, but each staff member will be involved in a variety of other activities such as research, conferences, and networking. For example, through June, Ian will be spending time with other Baptist College Principals and at the Baptist Ministers’ Conference; Ian and Graham will be at the BUS Canopy event; and all staff will be involved in a training day towards the middle of June. We’ll be celebrating with our (former) Governor and Treasurer for over 10 years, Neil Robinson – we thank him for his wisdom and guidance over the years. While the rhythm changes, it’s rarely quiet!

As ever, we value your support and prayers as we move into this important season for the College as we strive to create a learning community that nourishes faith where students find a place to belong and a space to grow.

Ian Birch and the SBC Team
