8th February 2017 - 3:00 pm
Join us at SBC for our regular College Community Seminars as a specialist in the field gives a theological insight into their specific area of interest. On Wednesday 8th February between 1:30pm and 3pm, Darran Gillan will be sharing about the work of the YMCA in Paisley. Darran will be sharing about both the hands-on experience about working with young people in Paisley and some of the challenges that brings, as well as how a Christian organisation works in the community.
The YMCA in Paisley states its purposes as, ‘a youth organisation that aims to respond effectively to the needs of the most vulnerable children, young people and families within Paisley. We develop any activity that support and advances people to reach their potential by overcoming barriers that would normally exclude them, e.g. age; ill health; disability, financial hardship, racial discrimination and social class.‘ As an organisation the YMCA is ‘an inclusive Christian youth organisation, open to people of all faiths and none and we work to transform the lives of children and young people, empowering them to create positive change in their lives and communities. We seek to work with all children and young people in an non-judgemental and supportive manner.’
These seminars are open to alumni, friends, and supporters of the College, as well as the wider public who feel they would benefit from engaging with the topic. For further information please contact Graham Meiklejohn on firstname.lastname@example.org
